另一首Iron & Wine 不是很直白的歌，乍聽之下，覺得作詞者想要表達他是多麼熱切地愛她，他對她的愛要多真誠
但是你多聽幾遍就知道，她和他的心裡距離有多遙遠：

她在門口，看起來離他很近幾乎可以碰觸到，但是她就像是窗邊的鳥兒 (A bird's wing on the window)，隨時拍拍翅膀就會飛走。

她有很多話是不會和他說的，所以他也只能在她睡著後臉上的表情了解，她可能背負著什麼壓力或是不愉快 (Her fever dream/A language on her face)

(I want your flowers like babies want God's love) 為什麼女人希望男人送她鮮花，因為這通常是愛的表徵，但是嬰兒基本需要的是父母的愛，而不是上帝的愛，也是就是說她需要他的愛(多多益善)，但是這不是她的基本需要

Or maybe as sure as tomorrow will come (Maybe?) 真的每個人都確定屬於每個人的明天真的會來到嗎? 這句歌詞其實有些自嘲的意味

苦情男知道她喜歡他，但還不到愛的地步，因為有些心事她是不願意和苦情男分享的。就像是 doorway 是建築的一部份，但是是在"屋外"

(Some days, like rain on the doorstep/ She'll cover me / With grace in all she offers )
就像是有時候(像是下雨時)，她給予苦情男"溫柔"和"善意" (Grace) 的，但現實上不可能每天都下雨。

有時我只想問她，什麼樣的實話，她沒法對我啟齒 ?
例如：「我需要你的鮮花，就像嬰孩需要上帝的愛，
也或許就像明天將要到來那般篤定。」
