耶穌，『我是』

「耶穌一說，我是，他們就退後，倒在地上。」（約十八6）

When therefore He said to them, I am, they drew back and fell to the ground.(John18:6)

耶和華這名的意思，乃是『我就是那我是。』主耶穌一說『我是』，眾人就退後倒地，這指明他們來捉拿的那一位居然就是耶和華神。在約翰八章二十四節，主耶穌告訴猶太人說：『你們若不信我是，必要死在你們的罪中。』這也是表明祂就是耶和華神。
