House of the Rising Sun ( 日昇之屋 ) 是一首美國民謠. 版本多不勝數. 然而把它唱到紅遍全世界的無庸置疑. 那就是來自英國的The Animals ( 動物合唱團 ). 半世紀以來許多人詮釋這首歌. 但都無法超越The Animals ( 動物合唱團 )所唱版本. 成為流傳最廣的世界版本. 這首歌曲紅到後來. 連黃俊雄布袋戲都把它拿來用. 填上台語歌詞當成劇中人物大節女的主題曲. 這大節女就是秘雕老婆.

House of the Rising Sun ( 日昇之屋 ) 本是英國民謠. 19世紀中期傳入美國. 1930年代即有唱片發行. 早在 1920年代早期「日昇之屋」在美國黑人文化中常用來作為妓院的代名詞. 傳統版本的「日昇之屋」歌詞所描述的並不是男性經驗. 而是少女淪為娼妓之後的悔恨. 這首歌是在被 The Animal 改編後. 才變成一首描寫男性經驗的歌曲. 後由來自美國肯他基州的 Georgia Turner 和 Bert Martin 重新填詞. 最早發行的錄音版本是1920 年代黑人藍調歌手 Texas Alexander 的版本. 而這間( 日昇之屋 )也真實存在. 而「日昇之屋」傳聞是以這所妓院的鴇母 Marianne LeSoleil Levant 的姓氏命名；她的姓氏翻譯做英文便是「日昇之屋」的意思. 1964年The Animals ( 動物合唱團 ) 將這首歌曲略為重新編曲發行. 歌曲於美英同時出版. 立即在兩國奪得排行榜冠軍月餘. 專輯大賣. 也成為The Animals ( 動物合唱團 )最知名代表作
