Dear all,
Subject : Red Light & Speed Cameras
Be careful when driving between SYD-MEL as there have 3 types of cameras :
· Red Light Camera – if you speed past a red light and drive through it, you will get an infringement notice
· Speed Camera – this is both a mobile and fixed camera type. In a mobile mode, the police usually stay at kerb side and with camera pointing at yr vehicle, if you exceed the speed permitted, then you will be hauled up for infringement notice
· Red Light /Speed Camera combined – capable of doing both as explained above
· Point to Point cameras – usually located between rural areas or outside city. This technique uses speed=distance/time concept. So let’s say, for argument sake, Sydney to Melbourne shld take at a minimum 12 hours drive and you left Sydney at 1:00PM and a picture is taken and you arrive Melbourne at 11PM and a picture is also taken. That would mean you have taken 10 hours to arrive Melbourne. So at some point you must be speeding. Because it you had stuck to your speed, you must take at least 12 hours to arrive.
