區域性的汽車大獎族繁不及備載，但對車廠來說唯有指標性的大獎才具有競爭價值，而車壇之中最具代表性的汽車大獎就屬每年3月在日內瓦車展公布的「European Car of the Year」，以及4月紐約車展公布的「World Car of the Year」各自代表著歐洲與北美的年度風雲車，兩大年度大獎都將逐一揭曉！

繼去年底歐洲年度風雲車公布最後七強名單之後，北美年度風雲車官方也在此時發布，由來自各國的汽車記者組成的75位評審團再經過第一輪的評選之後，一口氣公布了「World Car of the Year」、「World Luxury Car」、「World Performance Car」、「World Green Car」各級距決選名單。
