因基督看萬事為虧損

「不但如此，我也將萬事看作虧損，因我以認識我主基督耶穌為至寶；我因祂已經虧損萬事，看作糞土，為要贏得基督。」(腓3:8)

But moreover I also count all things to be loss on account of the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, on account of whom I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as refuse that I may gain Christ.(Phil3:8)

屬世、物質的事物的確霸佔人，叫人不能經歷基督。然而，真正攔阻人經歷基督的事物，主要的還是宗教、哲學和文化。保羅寫腓立比書的時候，羅馬帝國的人多半熱中於宗教、哲學或政治。我們出外傳福音時，也會發現宗教、哲學、和文化乃是抗拒福音最堅固的營壘。
